What to ask before you hire

    About Island Life Custom Pools

    • Ask what the warranty covers and for how long, in writing.
    • Search their name on the Better Business Bureau site, and read their reviews.

    Worth asking any pool builder

    • Can you show me proof of liability insurance and your bond?
    • What is in the price, and what is extra: decking, fencing, electrical, plaster finish?
    • What happens if you hit rock or groundwater when you dig?
    • Who pulls the permits, and what is the payment schedule?

    3. When do you want to start?
    4. What is your rough budget?

A range is fine. It helps contractors reply with a real number.
